VELVETEEN BLUE, much like the band whose ashes it was raised on leans heavy on the slap-sappy mock-schlock neo-retro parody-lounge.

2003 saw this new ensemble emerging, if not once again. Mezzanine's vision regrouped as a trio with brand new members along with original, prerecorded backing tracks as a rule of a sore thumb.

Although a comic routine on one hand – stretching romanticism to its limit – VELVETEEN BLUE successfully pulls off a perfectly sober presentation (dressed to the 99’s), suitable for all occasions.

Keep a sharp poke in the eye out and a couple of good peeled ears of corniness out, from the Velveteen Blue for us. We’re not going anywhere.

VELVETEEN BLUE was born from the ashes of its predecessor, MEZZANINE. Both bands did their best to ride out the coattails of the Neo Retro Lounge Scene.

Original songwriting and their own interpretations of classic covers expressed a mix of slap-sappy mock-shlock with true heart felt sentiment.
